Tong Pay & Play Day 2nd Sept

I would recommend anyone at a loss this weekend to go to this event lol https://www.facebook.com/events/156007928412795/

    Now they look to small

I filled the arches with expanding foam, and also used it to help fix it in place. It works really well, when curing the takes water in so dries out moisture and forms a good seal. Also if you do smash them hard it holds the arches together and you can just fill and paint them
  4. Just a week to go, we are hoping that we have everything sorted now. Still need to print and stuff the welcome envelopes and few other bits. Looks like it will be another big event, we have a burger / chip van this year, and good coffee and donuts on Saturday. Hopefully see some of you there and you will join in the games.

    New member...failed MOT woes

For the brake pipes just have some made from the "copper" pipe. If you can't get the correct ends just cut the old ones off and reuse. Most local motor factors will make them up to the length you specify.
  6. This has now moved to Stainby - same dates, a little cheaper. https://www.facebook.com/events/156007928412795/
  7. We are organising a P&P weekend in order to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support the weekend of 1st and 2nd September 2018. It will be held at Stainby Offroad Centre, nearest postcode is NG33 5QP. This site is suitable for all 4x4 vehicles (4x4's, 6x6's - sorry but NO motorbikes, or quads allowed). There is something for everybody. There are lots of areas that are suitable for shinys, with little climbs & descents – there are also more taxing places to go – for people that are into extreme green laning - with no tarmac. between lanes Then there are more severe areas. We will be having 4x4 games as usual. Camping will be available from Friday night. Caravans are also easy to get in and there are no restrictions. Offroading is available: Saturday 9am to 6pm Sunday 9am to 4pm Camping and entry will open from 3pm Friday The cost per vehicle is: £25 for the day. £45 for the weekend, including camping/caravan. £10 for spectators camping for weekend or 1 night Pay on arrival. More information is available on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/156007928412795/
  8. The biggest problem is ramblers do not want any mechanised vehicle to use ANY byway - and they also dislike mountain bikers - who will be the target after us.
  9. We are organising a P&P weekend in order to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support the weekend of 1st and 2nd September 2018. It will be held at KORC (Kirton Offroad Centre). This site is suitable for all 4x4 vehicles (4x4's, 6x6's - sorry but NO motorbikes, or quads allowed). There is something for everybody. For people that have not been, it is a huge site with lots to do – but for most there is no need for an introduction. Though lots of areas are suitable for shinys, with little climbs & descents – there are more taxing places to go – for people that are not that concerned about the shinyness of their motors and have winches. Camping will be available from Friday night. Caravans are also easy to get in and there are no major restrictions. Offroading is available: Saturday 9am to 4pm Sunday 9am to 4pm Camping and entry will open from 5pm Friday The cost per vehicle is: £30 for the day. £50 for the weekend, including camping/caravan. £10 for spectators camping for weekend or 1 night Pay on arrival. Please get your names down, and names of any friends that you would recommend - and feel free to share - the more the merrier. Mainly run on facebook for more details: https://www.facebook.com/events/156007928412795/

Jeep XJ Preparing for a Big Trip.

:great: I suppose it also depends or the type of mud you are dealing with - I know with clays that you end up having to knock it off/out of any nooks and crannies

A lot work going into that - well done. I would say the splash plates will just collect mud and fill up - rather than keeping it away though

    commander winch bumper

looks well, and good to have a lump of steel in front of you

    Hi All, Need new engine!!

changing the heads is easier than changing the engine - you also know that your bottom end is OK. If you want a different sort of engine - then just change cars, a lot less problems

    Testing the waters..

I said XJ - 101", but lift it and the wheelbase shortens..... At 105 it is too long to do Gatescarth. Not been up to the lakes in the Commander yet - but commander is narrower than my XJ by 4" - though it is body that now hits and not tyres lol

    Testing the waters..

Our group will be going up on our usual dates next year. We will keep an eye out for passes and get applications in- but if we don't get them then there is still plenty of laning for a few days Got to say I won't be driving it as now have a commander rather than an XJ (round down to 100".....)
